These abbreviations can be used to look up passages, such as “Gen” for Genesis, “Ex” for Exodus, “Lev” for Leviticus, etc. Especially if you are writing an informative text and want to minimize the text or paragraphs.
The Protestant Bible, also known as the “66-Book Bible,” includes 39 books of the Old Testament (according to the Jewish Canon of the Tanakh) and the 27 books of the New Testament.
Old Testament: (OT)
The Old Testament (OT) contains 39 books and tells the story of the Creation, the Fall of Adam and Eve, the great flood in the days of Noah, and the establishment of God’s covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, only one of whom God did not change his name, and that was Isaac. The Lord changed Abram’s name to Abraham and Jacob’s to “Israel.”

The New Testament (NT) is the second and final part of the Bible. The New Testament recounts the life, ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as well as the events of first-century Christianity. It is called the “New Testament” because, in the Christian context, it represents a new covenant or pact between God and humanity, The New Covenant, established through the death and resurrection of Jesus, this means, that salvation is a gift of grace, not something earned and is believed to fulfill the old covenant (the Old Testament) made with the people of Israel. The New Testament contains 27 books accepted by most Reformation churches.
